Q: Justin, 40 years is an incredible milestone! What has kept you passionate about plumbing for so long?
A: It is amazing to look back and think it’s been 40 years! I’ve always been driven by a desire to help people, and plumbing is one of those things that affects people’s daily lives in such a crucial way. Knowing that we can make a difference—whether it’s getting a family’s water heater working in the middle of winter or helping a business stay open because of our quick repairs—keeps me passionate.
Q: What’s something you’ve learned after four decades in this business?
A: I’ve learned that there’s no replacement for quality and integrity. People know when a company cares and also when they’re just another job. We’ve built our reputation on being reliable, honest, and doing things right the first time. Another big lesson is that technology changes, but people’s expectations of quality service don’t. Staying committed to both means we can grow and adapt without ever losing our core values.
Q: How has Justin Dorsey Plumbing evolved?
A: We started with just a few tools and a desire to do good work. Today, we’re a team of skilled professionals with advanced technology that lets us diagnose and repair faster than ever. But we haven’t changed our approach to customer care. Every job, no matter how big or small, still gets our full attention. We now serve residential and commercial clients and are available 24/7. That’s a testament to our commitment to being there when people need us most.
Q: What’s a piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting in the plumbing industry?
A: My advice would be always to keep learning and never compromise on quality. Plumbing can be tough, but the work you put in to learn, practice, and improve your skills will pay off. Also, remember that plumbing is a people business. How you treat your customers, coworkers, and community matters as much as any technical skill you bring.
Q: What are you most looking forward to in the future of Justin Dorsey Plumbing?
A: I’m excited to see where the next generation takes us. We have some incredible people here dedicated to the same values we started with. I look forward to expanding our services, bringing even more technology, and serving Central Indiana for many years.
